For such a small cafe in Redfield Bonnie's gets a lot of mixed debate. Some say they loathe it, others say it's alright. For me, it's fairly standard what to expect and I love it for what it is.
Once there was a time when you didn't even need to light up a ciggy - you could just go and sit here and passively puff twenty a day in five minutes. These days are gone but the remnants are still about. Door Stop Sarnies for a mere £2.30 for instance, and mugs of sugary milky tea. Cheese on toast, English breakies and such like are the other choices as well as The Sun and The Sport whilst you wait.
Don't kid yourself: it's not a fancy bar or sandwich shop. It's a greasy spoon - run by, I imagine, someone called Bonnie.
Thus Bonnie's Cafe is exactly as one should assume. -

I can see how this might be a haven for the hangover, and a saviour for the starving, but frankley I will probably not come again.
The service was friendly, and everything was served up very prompt, but it just didn't match up to what I had hoped.
I think from what people were saying I was hoping for a saviour to emerge from Church road, something to add a little sparkle to the otherwise grimeyer end of Bristol, and the smiles form the people working here nearly did that, but my stomach didn't seem to agree with the food... maybe it was my own digestive problems... -

More than just a cafe. Popped in for a bite and didn't expect a steak plate sized meal for a 5er. Soundings are what you would expect from a cafe. Friendly staff. Luminous ketchup.

Inner city cafe in real charm shocker. Yes that's right, I found a traditional greasy spoon on Church road without a greasy spoon in site. Just fine English Breakfasts with your eggs cooked exactly as you like 'em and masses of crisp streaky bacon on the side. The veggie breakfasts looked fit for a (veggie) king, Quorn sausages and all.
You can get a full English for around a fiver (not shockingly, unhealthily cheap like some places) and a cup of tea is decent and refillable with each brekkie. The toast was made from that pappy white bread, so not nutritious, but the sort of thing you'd expect. Good if you're local and a) can't be bothered to cook b) have had a heavu night on the sauce or c) don't keep all the ingredients in the house to make a cooked breakfast. -

Another place to pick up a fried breakfast. The portions aren't too shabby (you get plenty of bacon too) and the prices aren't half bad either. As well as fried breakfasts they do lunches and you can pick up cottage pie and lasagne, both with chips and peas, for less than four quid, a bargain.
This place is very much your standard greasy spoon - tea you could float a penny on and bacon that's nice and streaky. It is a cut above its peers in a couple of respects. Firstly, it's just that bit cleaner than your usual greasy spoon. Second, they look like they've put a touch more care into the food than usual places; there's no burnt sausages here.
